About Me

Erin Sun is an aspiring legal professional who grew up wandering around the diverse and bustling city of San Gabriel in Los Angeles County. During her early young adult years, she first realized and confronted her privilege while working at a motel in El Monte. Having to manage relationships with longtime residents and needing to make calls due to frequent medical emergencies involving drugs and violence, she developed a curiosity for the socioeconomic structures and inadequacies of American society.

These interests led her to pursue a degree in Sociology, and eventually two minors in Professional Writing and Labor Studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara. During her time there, she became a writer for the website SexInfoOnline.com, where she educated students and site-goers about sex-related topics and safe practices. She was also on the executive board for the professional prelaw fraternity on campus, Phi Alpha Delta, where she was involved in finance and fundraising.

Her love for writing and intrigue in civic engagement led her to apply and to gain acceptance to the competitive Professional Writing minor at UCSB, where she honed her skills in journalistic, creative, and nonprofit writing. She plans on using these skills to bring her closer to her ultimate goal—becoming a civil litigation lawyer.

When she graduates, she plans on taking a gap year before applying to law schools around California. Eventually, her goal is to go back and work for the people in her hometown who are unable to defend themselves because of language difficulties and medical issues.
